Are We Consumers or Gatherists?
At Gatheron, we believe it’s time to rethink our relationship with the things in our lives. Gatheron is for everyone who purchases, owns, and lives with things. It’s not elitist, it’s aspirational. It’s the beginning of a new movement around objects, ideas, people, and experiences.
A Gatherist is someone who collects with intention. Not just physically, but socially and intellectually. A Gatherist curates, connects, and considers—making choices that ripple outward into their homes, communities, and the world.
For too long, we’ve been defined as “consumers.” But what if we changed the story? What if instead of consuming, we gathered well?
When we’re ready for new things, we could gather them thoughtfully. When we’re done with them, we could help them move on thoughtfully, too.
The Shift: From Consuming to Gathering
Deep down, we already know what gathering well looks like. It begins with questions:
Do I want it?
Do I need it?
How does it work with the rest of my things?
Who made it? Where did it come from?
Can I let something else go to make space for it?
This isn’t elitism, it’s humility. It’s respect for the fact that every object carries value. Each one required resources, labor, and time to create.
“Gathering well” also means letting go with care. Sometimes that looks like recycling or upcycling. But more often, it means passing things along—to people, organizations, or marketplaces where they’ll be valued again.
The Gatherist Mindset
To be a Gatherist isn’t just about objects, it’s about community. It’s about gathering people who share this mindset, so the things we no longer need can find new life with someone who does.
That’s where Gatheron comes in.
We’re building an app-based system that helps you:
Log and track the things you already own
See patterns in what you prefer and use
Source better new gatherings
Connect with places and people ready for what you no longer need
It’s a way to make gathering well easy and meaningful.
Because when we gather well, we let go of buyer’s guilt. We build connection. We make space for joy.
We become Gatherists.
Gather well. Gather on.
